Performance Goals Worksheets (Excel spreadsheet)
For schools in North Carolina to calculate growth rates needed to achieve expected or exemplary growth and to meet target performance levels (as specified by NC ABCs of Education). A table for calculating growth for achieving adequate yearly progress (AYP, as specified by NCLB legislation) is also included. Copyright 2005 by Roderick Rose.
Tools for Evaluation Planning
Each of the following SAS programs contains a macro for calculating power in either two-level or three-level longitudinal settings. One referring program, which contains code referencing each of the macros, is also provided as an example. The values assigned to the macro variables in the referring program were used in the analysis for a manuscript (Power in Evaluations of Whole-School Change Initiatives: Longitudinal Studies of Cluster Randomized Trials by Rose and Bowen, 2005). All programs and macros Copyright 2005 by Roderick Rose.
Library:
Zip file containing both macros and a referring program, as follows:
power_calculation.sas (SAS program)
Calculate power for a two-level longitudinal design.
three_level_power.sas (SAS program)
Calculate optimal J (number of clusters) sample size for a three-level longitudinal design.
Referring Program:
New_power_estimates.sas
Provides example using each power macro, including (a) two-level model of school change over time, (b) two-level model of student change over time, and (c) three level model of student change over time within schools.
